CRI Participates in Purdue School of Engineering & Technology’s POWER Camp

Catheter Research Inc. (CRI) enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology’s 7th annual POWER (Preparing Outstanding Women for Engineering Roles) camp at the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis. The one-week camp serves as introduction to engineering for young women in high school. Participants engage in hands-on activities, industry visits, and roundtable discussions with female engineering professionals.
Shannon Parker, a recent graduate of Purdue School of Engineering and Technology and Biomedical Manufacturing Engineer at Catheter Research Inc, participated in this year’s roundtable discussion. Shannon provided insight into her college experience and her now day-to-day life as an engineer at CRI, a market leader in medical device manufacturing and development.
POWER camp strives to inspire young ladies to pursue careers in engineering. This year, camp participants traveled from Puerto Rico, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois, and various parts of Indiana.  Perception survey results indicated that all camp participants agree it would be fun to work in an engineering related job, and that women are as successful as men in engineering careers.
